Nice Day

I stayed home with Paige today since I have to work on Saturday, I was happy to find out she didn't have school today because it's an early release day. 4K doesn't go to school on early release day since they'd be there for about an hour.

We had a really nice day, and I was actually quite productive. We snuggled in bed until about 8am, then had breakfast where I had to break the news that our neighbors including her beloved Ava are moving. She did not take the news well and cried for a while. I got teary eyed too, but had to keep it together. She recovered, and wanted to play on the computer (www.starfall.com..LOVE IT!) So I threw in some laundry and vacuumed my upstairs floors since they were beyond gross. Aren't I just the happy housewife? Then we went outside so I could hang up my laundry. And I swear, the planets were aligned just right because we had the best time out there. I was able to hang out my laundry, play fetch with the dog (she actually chased after it, brought it back to me AND dropped it...in that order!!! Big deal for her.) and Paige played by herself beautifully. She didn't whine when I sat down, hung up clothes, went inside for a minute, or played with the dog. She had a ball mixing sand, water, flower petals and leaves in this bucket, dumping in the sandbox and starting all over again. I couldn't believe it, I think I heard angels singing at one point. She played with her scooter and her and Duchess chased each other around for a while. It really was cute. Came in, ate lunch, and she went down for quiet time while I attacked the back bedroom. It was a mess in there, it's our catch all room and you seriously could only take about 2 steps in there because it was FULL. After quiet time it was raining so I made some fingerpaint from scratch...I swear I was channeling Martha Stewert today or something. Then Ava came over for about an hour, they started snipping at each other so I sent them over to Ava's house. Paige came back after about a half hour, we had tacos for supper and Mike took over the bath/bedtime routine. I decided to get my fat ass off the couch and exercise so I did a work out DVD....haven't done one in months. It felt pretty good but I got bored at the end like I always do. It was a good workout, I just have such a short attention span.

So tomorrow is my usual day off, and Paige goes back to school. I'll have Friday afternoon all to myself for the first time (last week didn't count since I was rummage saleing and running errands all afternoon getting ready for our trip to Milwaukee) I'm definitely planning to vacuum my basement since it's even worse than my upstairs and give myself a pedicure. AAAHHH, a quiet afternoon all to myself. I can't wait!!!

It's Proactive, OK?

So Thursday night, I get myself ready for bed and notice I have a big zit on the side of my face. Because this Proactiv zit mask is supposed to be some miracle in a bottle, I spackle it on the zit and go to bed. On Friday, I decide I really can't resist going to some rummage sales and have no choice but to bring the kid with. The first one we go to is at a house where the mom sends her kids to St. Anthony's, so we sort of know each other. She seems nice enough, but a tad bit snooty. I pick up a Pooh Bear Halloween costume for Paige there for $2, I think it's the deal of the century because it's really heavy, has a hood and mittens. Plus she looks darn cute in it. It's a little tight in the crotch, but I'll make it work. On to the next sale. Total crap, so we move on. I see a few people I recognize from town, but really overpriced. Paige seems to be holding up so I say let's go to the St. Anthony's rummage sale because I know the stuff is priced super cheap there and she can play on the playground while I shop. So we pull in the parking lot, I look in the rearview mirror to say something to Paige and notice THE ZIT CREAM IS STILL ON MY FACE!!!! Obviously in the 2 minutes it took me to get dressed, brush my teeth and throw a headband in my hair (no contacts or make up, I looked HOT) I did not notice this white crap on the side of my face. Luckily I keep wet wipes in my car (call me McGyver) and wiped it off, recalling all the people I saw at the previous 3 rummage sales. UGH.

The Packers won tonight! WHO HOO! And so did the Brewers! Better head upstairs...hubby has been all over me and it's easier to just put out so he quits groping me. Aren't we so in love.

Why?

I read in last night's paper that a baseball coach in Appleton accused of sexually assaulting a few boys killed himself on Monday. I believe he had a either a hearing or his trial was supposed to start this week. His name was Michael and he and his sister were at my dad's trial last October and we became friendly. Mike even called him right after the jury decision in my dad's trial to tell him that my dad was innocent. He told us he was falsely accused like my dad and was going to be tried in Outagamie County by the DA there, Carrie Schneider (aka She-Devil.) I guess they were there to get the inside scoop.

I don't know if he was guilty or innocent, but our society has forgotten the concept innocent until proven guilty. Some of the comments left online in the papers are just downright cruel, they assume he was guilty. I have so many questions and ache for his family. If he was falsely accused, we know exactly what they were going through and this is a horrible ending. Why did he kill himself? Does that show his guilt? Would it be better to end his life rather than going to prison? If he was innocent, imagine the pain he went through and figured it was just easier to end it all. What is wrong with our society today? Don't people realize that there are false accusers out there?

Labor Day Weekend Recap

We had such a fun Labor Day weekend! Friday we packed up and headed up to Kristin and Tom's cabin near Eagle River. It's an old trailor that he is tearing down and fixing up. He's already tore down and started rebuilding the kitchen and living room. So it's a little rustic-no hot water, and no running water in the kitchen. But there is electricity so we had a microwave, toaster, frig, etc. and running water in the bathroom and flush toilets. Plus it's on a small private lake so it's super quiet and beautiful. So we all (my parents, Kristin and Tom) got there Friday afternoon, unpacked, and hung out the rest of the day. Mike and I grilled fish, potatoes and sweet corn for supper. We had a bonfire where Tom scared Paige with a scary story. She wanted to tell scary stories but after Tom scared her, she was done!

Saturday, we lounged around all day. I read, Paige ran around while everyone entertained her, her and Mike did some fishing, etc. After her nap, we took her mini-golfing and go-karting for the first time. She LOVED it all and was actually pretty good at mini golf. My parents cooked out for supper that night. Had another bonfire where we roasted marshmellows and told FUNNY stories, at Paige's request!

Sunday, we went to church, then to Tom's mom's cabin to pick up her pontoon boat. We spent all afternoon on the pontoon and did some swimming. It was the perfect day for it-hot and sunny. Paige had a BLAST! Went back to Tom's mom's for some well-deserved showers (sorry to the people who sat by us at church) then Kristin and Tom cooked out that night. Back to Kristin and Tom's cabin where we all turned in pretty early.

Monday, we got up, cleaned and packed up and was out of there by 10:30 am. Got home and did a bunch of laundry and unpacking. Paige was pooped so we were pretty low key all afternoon. Cooked cheddarwursts on the grill for supper and got her in bed by 7:30pm.

The whole weekend was so much fun, it was great spending so much time with my family. My mom and sister fought some, and Kristin and Tom fought some, but everyone else got along and we laughed so much. I have many memories of the weekend that make me laugh when I think of them. We're so lucky!

Not sure if this will work, but here is a link to the pix I posted in facebook:

School

So tonight was Paige's 4K orientation at St. Anthony's. She was beside herself with excitement and I had a knot in my stomach.

After putting on our nametags and checking out the other parents, we gathered in the 5K room where we prayed for our kids, then the 5K kids stayed in their room, 4K went into their room, and us parents went into a different classroom for our meeting. It was all very overwhelming-early release days, bussing, dress code, fundraising, home and school association, etc. I pretty much had tears in my eyes the whole time and was on the verge of a major breakdown. I even volunteered to sell candy bars at work for fundraising-aren't I just a top notch parent? =)

Then we went back into the 4K room where Paige was in 7th heaven. The teacher said she asked for us once, but was totally fine when she was told that we would be back when we were done with our meeting. She'll have 9 kids in her class. I asked about bathroom breaks-weird I know, but when that kid has to go, she has to go!

So we mingled a little bit, Paige drank several glasses of juice and got totally wired, I paid the snack fee and filled out her school vaccination record. The secretary was quite impressed that I kept her vaccination record in my wallet-I thought all parents did. If I didn't keep it in there, I'd definitely lose it. Paige was in love with her teacher and gave her a hug before we left.

Paige, you have grown up so fast! I've made many mistakes over the past 4 years and I'd give anything to go back and have more patience and yell ALOT less. I hope we have prepared you in the right way so that you are ready for school and love it. I don't know how I'm going to keep it together on Tuesday when you get on the bus. I know I can't cry in front of you because you will be so excited. I know it will be scary-but what an adventure you are starting! Please smile for me because I'll take lots of pictures-this is such a big day! Daddy and I love you so very much!

Weekend Recap

Friday: had a super lazy morning, got my haircut (LOVE IT!), then got together with some friends at Brain Freeze and afterwards went to an elementary school playground nearby. Then we went to Shopko to get her a box of wipes and kleenex for school, and a flat iron and hairspray for me. Total nightmare-that kid is the worst shopper. I found her a couple of basic jeans on sale for $12 each. I guess that's a good deal, but I'm still shocked at how much more expensive big girl clothes are. Gone are the days of finding nice stuff at rummage sales for $1. She fell asleep on the way home, was a total bear when we got home and gave me a really hard time about going down for quiet time at home. I'm proud to say I won that battle because Mama needed some quiet time of her own! Cooked supper, Mike got home, then we took the kid to our county fair. I'd like to say it was "Let Out Your Weird Day" but I have a feeling that's the audience that is attracted to the Oconto County Fair. As long as we just looked at the animals and not the people (who were surprisingly animal-like) we were fine. Paige went on a few rides, I got an extremely overpriced funnel cake ($5! for fried bread!!!) Got home way too late and threw the kid in bed.

Saturday: again, had a super lazy morning (do we see a theme here), then met some friends at Art Street in Green Bay. Paige whined while we looked at stuff we wanted to and had a blast doing crafts. She was fascinated by the Oneida Pow Wow dancers-I found it pretty cool too. Went to our friends house for supper while Paige and their daughter ran around like two peas in a pod and the adults enjoyed the time away from our respective offspring.

Sunday: Mike went fishing in the morning, I took the kid to church, then we went to my sister and brother in law's new house all afternoon. It's a very nice house and they seem to like it alot. They are about 45 minutes away which is AWESOME!!!! They house is way out in the country, but they have a 4 wheeler so they have a bunch of land to ride around on it. We all took turns on the 4 wheeler-FUN!!! The total rednecks that we are, we even let Paige go on it a few times, I think they went a total of about 5 MPH when she was on it. Ate at Fazoli's in GB, then came home. Picked a shitload of beans from our garden, took the laundry off the line and got sucked into a few episodes of Snapped. Man, that show is addictive.

Today: at work and I really don't feel like being here. I was only in the office last week Monday so I have a bunch of stuff to catch up on. Suppose I should start with checking the 9 voicemails I have. UGH.

Back on the Ranch

So I've been out of town the past few days for work. I pick Paige up tonight from the sitter's and she has been rather nightmarish since we got home. I know it's because she really missed me, but seriously, show it in a nicer way. Plus the dog has been halfway up my ass. Again, I know you missed me but constantly jumping up on me isn't the way to show it. It will just lead me to yelling at you to get down and eventually slapping your fat ass. Mike took her to the vet last week for her yearly check up and she's rather portly-up 8 pounds since last year. We haven't sent her to doggy fat camp yet, but we are giving her less food and trying to exercise her more. But no biggie, I've probably gained 8 pounds since last week and I haven't gotten spayed recently.

So as soon as we were done with supper I escaped to the basement for some peace and quiet and time away from the kid. All is quiet upstairs, so Mike must have her under control.

So tomorrow I'm trying a new hairstylist for a hair cut. Mine has been sucking ass lately and I have to figure out how to break up with her if I like the new one. I have a picture of how I want my hair to look so we'll see. Not sure if this will work, but this is the cut I want: http://www.womensbeautylife.com/albums/short_hair/short4.jpg.

My eyebrows are getting slightly crazy too so I'll have her wax them too. Good times. I'm bringing the kid with so we'll see how she does. Well I'm being beckoned upstairs so I best be going.

Monday Secret

So this really isn't a secret, but it's something I'm starting to become very worried about, especially after last week's Monday Secret.

I'm deathly afraid that Paige will have major eating disorders as she continues to grow up. It runs in my family, I over eat, my sister doesn't eat enough and it's all about control with her (my sister.)

I've noticed that Paige will not eat just to have control over a situation and to prove a point. The other day for lunch she wanted spaghettios and basically picked the meatballs out and proclaimed she was done because she was full. I knew this couldn't be true but I've decided not to argue with her about food. So Mike says no you are not full, and how about if we take turns eating? So he covers his mouth with the bowl during his turns and doesn't really put any food in his mouth and Paige scarfs down the whole bowl in like 5 minutes. WTF?!?!?!

Food is such an issue for her and I'm so mad at myself for allowing it to happen. I have no idea how to fix this mess.

Neighbors

So about a year ago, we had new neighbors move in who I'll refer to as M & D. At the time, they were boyfriend and girlfriend, but are now married. M has a 4 year old daughter from a previous marriage (A) and A and Paige play pretty well together (for the most part, there is some drama, but not bad).

Last summer the girls would go back and forth between houses, ours one night, A's the next. Maybe they were at our house more but it didn't really bother me much.

This spring/summer is a different story, we bought the swing set (a cheap ghetto metal one from Kmart, but they LOVE it) and A is at our house ALL THE TIME. Typically when we get home, Paige sees that M's car is home and runs over to their house before even coming into our house. Fine. Next thing you know A is shooting out of her house and both are dashing to our swing set. Again, fine. I'm starting to notice that A is ALWAYS at our house and the girls are never playing at A's.

So last night it's cool and rainy and not a good night to play outside. The above scenario plays out, and after about 2 minutes outside I tell the girls to come inside and play. They are rather good at entertaining themselves, but I still have to referee occasionally. So Paige pulls out her "new" (from a rummage sale with 2 pieces missing) strawberry shortcake game for her and A to play and it's painfully obvious that A has never played a board game before because she has no clue what to do. She finally seems to grasp it, I leave to change my clothes and Paige comes storming in a minute later saying A is playing it wrong. I tell them to put it away and play with Paige's barbies.

A is over for about an hour before I send her home so we can eat. After supper Paige wants to play with A, so we send her over there with instructions to play at A's house, A is eating and will come over when she's done. Great. So A comes over a little while later and we say, why don't you go over to your house? A replies "my mom doesn't want us to play at my house." WTF?!?!?! I was livid. A was over for about 5 minutes and we sent her home.

Mike looked outside a little while later and noticed A sitting on the steps outside of her house alone. Again, WTF? She's only 4. Someone could grab her so fast. Granted I leave the 2 girls outside alone for a few minutes, but my windows are open and Duchess is outside. She'll bark protectively at a kid biking down the street so I know she won't let anything go down.

I really really really like M and D, but am really starting to doubt M's parenting. Her ex gets her EVERY single weekend from Thursday afternoon-Sunday afternoon and then she's at our house almost every night. How about spending a little time with your kid? I have a feeling that she's sending A to our house all the time so her and the new hubby can have a quickie. But hey, I wouldn't mind one too!

I know I need to say something to M, but it's hard. I don't like to confront people and this is such an awkward topic. I don't want it to come out petty, but hey one night over at A's so I can have a quiet house-is that too much to ask?

Yep, You're a Better Mom Than Me

If I see a statement to this effect again I think I might puke: "I just saw on the news somewhere that stay-at-home moms would get about $138,000 / year if we got paid. Not to bad!"

Some nitwit on my mom's group board posted this. I'm THIS CLOSE to posting, "Since I work outside the home, tack on an extra $35,000 for my pay from my job."

And this one too:
"A man came home from work and found his three children
outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door
to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a Cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was
spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more
piles of clot hes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way
out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.
He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'
She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?'
'Yes,' was his incredulous reply.
She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'"

Oh ha ha, aren't you all just laughing your heads off? I think I've only gotten that one about 1 million times before. So I do all that in addition to the 8 or so hours I'm away from home.

And horror of horrors, I'm starting a Bible study tonight so that's even more time away from my precious offspring. How ever will she cope? Good thing her dad's around to "babysit" her.

Boy I must not be pregnant this month, I have killer PMS.

Monday Secret

I'm copying my favorite Indiana resident and changing Sunday Secret to Monday Secret. Here's mine: I'm obsessed with food. It's sick. After thinking about having something chocolate all afternoon, I finally paid 85 cents for a stupid Butterfinger candy bar and devoured it in like a minute. I'm THIS CLOSE to getting another one. Meanwhile, I'm picking the Butterfinger pieces out of my teeth and hoping that will tide me over until I stop at Dollar General on the way home for a package of shortbread chocolate covered cookies. UGH.

TMI Tuesday

1. How many credit cards do you own? Are they paid off? 5-One Visa that I use WAY too much for day to day stuff, a Chase card that has a balance that we're paying off, a Kohl's card for the awesome deals, Menards and Home Depot. Chase card is not paid off, but will be by the end of the year. Menards and Home Depot have landscaping and appliances and they'll be paid off within 3 months.

2. Can you be in love with someone you don't trust? I don't think so.

3. Should prostitution be legal? Honestly, I don't really care. It's going to take place anyway.

4. On a scale of 1-10, how good of a lover do you think you are? (1 is lowest, 10 is highest) Mike seems to be a happy camper so I'd say a 7.

5. What are three mistakes someone could make on the first date with you that would automatically make you turn down a second date with them?
I haven't really dated much, but if someone was rude to the waitress or other customer service person, if they were condescending, and if they smelled bad.

Bonus (as in optional): Tell us about your worst date ever.
Kind of sad, but I never really went on very many dates. The 2 boyfriends I had in college, we just sort of "hooked up" and were together. I went on a first date with Mike and it was obviously good!

My Baby is 4!

I still can't believe it. I'm really having a hard time with this birthday. Maybe it's because 4 seems so OLD, kwim?

We had a really nice day, I took off so we could spend it together. My parents came up, and we all played outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. In the afternoon, we went to buy some flowers so Paige could have her own flower garden. I told her she could pick out whatever she wanted and she would be in charge of it. She thought that was pretty cool. While we were there, my mom and I started to look at shrubs, and almost $300 later, the front of my house has all new shrubs in it! My dad kept Paige occupied while my mom and I planted about 12 new shrubs in the front. We cooked on the grill and ate outside, which Paige loves to do. She opened a few presents and we ate the cupcakes my mom brought. It was such a nice day and I'm dreading going back to work. I have a long day tomorrow too, a car seat appointment at 5:45. UGH.

I made this movie to celebrate Paige's 4th birthday, let me know what you think!!!

Mom's Night Out

OK, for some reason I'm feeling the need to get this out. It's really not that big of a deal, but I think I'll feel better. WTF is my problem?

So my mom's group had a mom's night out (commonly called an MNO) last night at Atlanta Bread Company. It was called "Ask Anything over Coffee" where we wrote down questions anonymously and went around and answered them. There was probably about 12 of us there.

For some reason last night I felt like a bumbling idiot last night! Everyone else was all prettied-up because they probably had time to get ready, opposed to me who left the house at 8:30am, worked until 5:30pm, ran to a rummage sale, then to Atlanta Bread without going home. So I was kind of stressed about that. Then for some reason because I think people see me as the "funny one" I have to put on this big show and make people laugh all the time. I felt like I couldn't stop talking and all I wanted to do was shut up and sit there quietly. I also felt like I was making a huge ass of myself and probably turning some people off since I was coming off as an obnoxious loudmouth. AGH!!!!

I should have left early, but I stayed until the bitter end. I think I have to tell myself to just chill out, I don't have to impress anyone, and just be myself!!!

Knot in My Stomach

I just looked up the first day of school for the 2008-2009 school year and it's September 2nd. That will be Paige's first day of 4 year old kindergarden. She'll ride a bus to her school, St. Anthony's. As I was putting that date on my work calendar, I started to get a knot in my stomach and I'm on the verge of tears thinking about my baby going to school. The same little baby I brought home from the hospital and fed at 2am is going to get on a bus and go to school. I wish I could put into words how I feel, but I think my mama friends get it.

I always get a little sad around her birthday too. I tend to spend a lot of time looking at baby pictures and little movies we took on our camera. It's just amazing how fast they grow and change. I think I'll put together a slideshow of her the past 4 years. I better get back to work before I really lose it!

TMI Tuesday

Copied from a different blog; thought it was fun!

How many cell phones have you had? How long have you had your current cell phone number?
I think I've had this same number since Mike and I got cell phones together right around our wedding. So almost 7 years. I think I've had 4 cell phones. I remember my very first one, it was this huge yellow thing, but I thought it was so cool! Is this really a TMI question?

Where was the last place you had sex?

On my bed.

On a scale of 1-10, how satisfied are you with your love life? (1 is lowest, 10 is highest)?

9, my husband is awesome and I love him a lot. He's not perfect though!

Does Bliss sound like a fun game to you? Have you ever played it?

I've never heard of it, so I don't know.

Is there anything or anyone you would be willing to die for?

Paige.

Bonus (as in optional): If you were (or had) a magic genie and could only grant wishes for others and you only had three left, what would they be and who would they be for?

1. That Paige is always healthy and happy in life.
2. That my sister and BIL will have a healthy baby (I'm sure they will, but it's still a wish)
3. That my single mom divorced friend meets a nice guy and gets remarried.

In Between

So Paige is very annoyingly in between sizes right now. She's shot up to 44 inches, and has been growing in her legs. On one hand good because her TCP tops from last summer fit this summer. She's NEVER been able to wear clothes from a previous season.

However, size 4 pants are a bit too short, and size 5's are a little too long. She gets super annoyed when her pants are too long and rolls them up to a ridiculous length. Size 4 underwear are too small, size 6's are too big. Why they don't make size 5, I'm not sure.

I've also noticed that she's outgrown a few of her size 10 shoes, but a few of them still fit. Size 10-11 flip flops from TCP are too small, but the 12-13's fit. AGH!!!! So today, we go shoe shopping and what an ordeal. She's measuring around an 11.5 and I've been stuffing her into 10s!!! So after trying on a variety of size 11 and 12 shoes, we finally leave there with 2 cute pairs of shoes. (BOGO half off, so you HAVE to get 2!) I also got 2 pairs of sandals. I still have those croc/mary jane type shoes from TCP size 11 that I want to try on her, we'll see if they fit.

It seriously took us a half hour this morning to get her dressed. It started innocently enough with me asking her to pick out a ponytail holder that would match her clothes (we were going bowling with a friend and I wanted to pull her hair back.) She decides she wants to wear turquoise blue ponies which didn't match her clothes. So being super anal mom that I am, I tell her to pick out a shirt that matches the blue ponytail holders. We find one that matches, and I tell her to get dressed. She has her size 6 undies on and she's whining because "my underwear are all goofy." I've discovered that she can't wear jeans now because they make the size 6's bunch up and the too small size 4's ride up her hiney. So we try on several pairs of both the 4 and 6 undies with the jeans and nothing works. So I pick out black yoga pants that match the blue shirt. Fine. FINALLY after braiding her hair to her satisfaction, we attempt to put on the unbeknownst to me too small shoes which sets both of us off. Finally she wears her Dora tennies. AGH!!!!! She was very mis matched and it annoyed the crap out of me. It also made us 10 minutes late.

Damn high maintenence girls.

Tired

So I've been slacking on the couch to 5K program. I took about a week off then finally got on the treadmill again last night. UGH. I am so not a runner, but I know it's a good way to get in shape. I'll probably just stick with the alternating walk/run for a LONG time!!!

I have to work tomorrow at a stupid all day mandatory agency inservice. BOOOORRRINNNGGG. Sit all day and listen to speakers who have nothing to do with my job. But I'm taking next week Monday off to make up for it.

I took Paige to a kindergarden screening tonight to make sure she's on track and she is. She had a ball and didn't want to leave! I also had her hearing and vision screened and she passed both. I'm sure she'll need glasses soon, Mike and I are both blind as bats.

Mike's dad and stepmom are coming over for the weekend. Hopefully, they'll behave themselves better than last time they were here. Last time, step MIL clipped her nails in the living room, left the clipper on my end table, made a huge mess in the kitchen, stunk up my one and only bathroom, and the kicker, bagged up the garbage from their van and left it by my garage door as they left. So as you can imagine I'm TOTALLY looking forward to this weekend.

Man, I'm boring I really have nothing to report. I have clothes in the dryer and I need to hit the hay.

Couch to 5K

I'm not really sure what is possessing me to do this, but I'm on week 2 of the Couch to 5K program on coolrunning.com. Well it's week 2 for me, but I'm still on week 1 of jogging for 60 seconds and then walking for 90. I actually don't mind it too much, I put my Friends DVD in and I'm on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I'm hoping to bump it up to week 2 next week, which is jogging for 90 seconds and walking for 2 minutes. My new New Balance shoes ROCK! I totally love zappos.com, I ordered the shoes around 10pm one night, they were at my house by 4:30 THE NEXT DAY! And for free shipping! Not sure how they do it, but it's awesome.

Grrr I'm trying to print a bunch of stuff on our only color printer in the whole agency and it's not working. Love technology.

OK, so today is tax day and all that has been on the news is people waiting until the last minute. Are we supposed to feel sorry for them? Seriously, people you have like 4 months to do this. Luckily, Mike does ours online and we get our rebates within a week. I have no clue how to do our taxes, if I were ever single, I'd take them somewhere. I like to think of myself as self-sufficient but that is one thing I'm totally clueless on.

Happy Birthday Meredith!

Paige-isms

So Paige said a couple of cute things tonight that I wanted to remember. First we were at an icecream store (Coldstone Creamery) and it's obviously prom night at several high schools, and apparently CC is the spot to go. So a huge limo pulls up, about 10 girls all dressed up get out and Paige is totally fascinated. She can't stop staring at all the girls and says to Mike and I "I want to go say hi to all the princesses." It was so cute! She finally did, but Mike had to go with her-she was so proud of herself!

Second, her and Mike were browsing the end caps of Target looking for deals and she spotted something Hannah Montana and recognized it as such. When Mike asked her how she knew HM, she said she didn't know. He asked her another time and she goes "Dad, you've asked me that LIKE 20 times." WTF?!?!?! Is she 3 going on 13?

PMS

OMG I think I have the world's worst case of PMS right now, I feel like I'm going to jump out of my skin. Mike is off today and getting ready to go fishing, he won't be home until midnight or so. Paige and I are going to Hardee's with some friends to play later on this afternoon. My current bitches:
1. I got my haircut yesterday and it looks nothing like the picture I showed my stylist. I'm considering starting to hack at it myself and switching stylists. She's been going downhill on my past few cuts. But she also waxes my eyebrows and does a really good job with them.
2. Paige is driving me nuts. She's acting all weird and hyper and generally annoying.
3. BIL keeps calling Mike to talk about fishing and he talks really super loud.
4. I had an ingrown toenail removed on my right big toe, but the doc didn't get all of it. It's really starting to hurt and I don't want to have to pay another $300 for the anesthesia and go through the pain of having it removed.
5. The weather here is going to suck all weekend and we have no plans. We'll all drive each other crazy if we don't get out of this house.
6. I ran out of happy pills this morning and hate having to pay $45 every month for them. This is an ongoing bitch.
7. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a patio set and hubby is against it. JCP has one on sale for $229 and I'm tempted to go get it today while he's gone. Damn men.
8. I have a shitload of laundry to do and I can't hang it outside because of the crappy weather.

OK enough bitching. Off to go work on the 10 loads of laundry.

Wisconsin in April

really sucks. We had 60's over the weekend, 2 days ago it snowed about an inch, and now the winds are howling and it's about 30 degrees. We're under a winter storm warning right now. But no worries, it's supposed to be back up in the 60's by the middle of next week. WTF?!?!?

So Paige is totally ga ga over her new swing set. She has been wanting to play on it non-stop which is kind of hard when it's snowing. Last night her and the neighbor girl played on it for almost an hour. I was freezing when we came back in finally.

I'm starving, I'm going to be eating lunch soon. Leftovers. It's this really yummy sweet and sour chicken that I cooked last night. I'll have to post the recipe for my ya yas.

I ordered some new shoes from zappos.com-New Balance Running shoes. I hope they get here soon because I'd really like to stick with the couch to 5K program, I'll be walking/running again tonight. I have a feeling I'm going to be stuck on week 1 for a LONG time.

MIL gave us each $75 in Visa gift cards for Christmas, but they expire at the end of this month, we each got a $50 one and a $25 one. So I tried to use the $50 to buy part of new shoes and put the rest ($14) on my CC. No go, you can only use one card. I keep forgetting I have it, so I HAVE to spend it by the end of this month. I can't just let $75 go to waste! Maybe I'll go shopping again this weekend, the weather is supposed to be crappy. I wish she would have just gotten us $75 in cash-much easier to spend!!!!

OK my tummy growling is disturbing my co workers so I better eat.

Crabby

OK I don't have PMS but EVERYONE is driving me nuts right now. I'm holding this stupid grudge against Mike because he got to have 2 long, fun child free weekends in the last month. Paige is driving me crazy. I'm not sure how it's possible but she has gotten even more picky in the last few weeks. She won't eat supper, goes to bed hungry, wakes up early because she is hungry and then is a bear. Good times.

So Mike first. At the end of October he was gone from Thursday night-Tuesday night, up north hunting birds and doing guy stuff. Fine. Paige and I kept busy, but still it's hard doing all the laundry, cooking, cleaning, dog care, baths, bedtimes, naptimes, etc. alone. So this past weekend was opening weekend of gun deer season. He goes up north again from Thursday night and just has to stay there until he gets a deer, he finally shoots one on Sunday and doesn't get home until 10pm. So for the 2nd weekend in less than a month, I have to listen to "I miss my daddy" all weekend. Sunday night when she was really throwing a fit, I called Mike on his cell and put Paige on the phone. I tried to make him feel bad, but I don't think it worked. He comes home with a crapload of dirty laundry, stinky, unshaven, and a deer that needs to be cut up. Great. Then he wants me to put out last night. I was in the mood for a little while, but then he started to get a little pushy about it and it turned me off. Then he got pouty, got up to take a shower, and fell asleep on the couch. Whatever.

Paige next. I'm not sure how it's possible but she has become even more picky. She's sick all the time and I know it's because her immune system is so weak from not eating fruits and veggies. She wanted mac and cheese the other night, and a very specific kind. Not the shells, just the regular plain jane kind. So I make it, and she throws a huge fit because it's yellow not orange. She picked at it for a while and then I took it away and told her no snack that night. Monday night I made this really good pork chop thing with potatoes and onions simmered in beef broth and a fruit salad. She wouldn't touch any of it. So I made her sit in her chair until she was done. She wouldn't eat it so we just put her right to bed. Last night we had it for leftovers and a different fruit salad with grapes, pineapple and mandarin oranges. She said she'd eat a few grapes and I told her to choose either one pineapple or one orange. She chose an orange and then refused to touch it. I threatened all kinds of things and she wouldn't budge. Finally I told her to go sit in a time out until it was bedtime at the end of the hall in the dark with no toys or blankie. I was livid. Mike played the good cop and convinced her to try the pineapple which she did and ended up eating like 5 of them plus a few grapes.

She has gotten even more whiney if that's possible. Last night she whined because I didn't give her floss. I made her ask for it nicely and she did and then threw a shit fit because I tore it off myself and she wanted to do it all by herself. AGH!!!! I just hear her go "mommmmmmyyyyyy" in her whiney weepy tone and it just irritates the crap out of me. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

This morning was horrible too. Mike for some reason has started to play music for her to fall asleep too. Well she woke up this morning going "DADDY? DADDY!!!! DADDY?!?!" all pissed off and throwing another shit fit because her music wasn't playing. Great way to start the day. Of course Mike had already left for work by this time. Then she insists on bringing her blankie to Sandi's and I had to say no and that led to another whiney tantrum. Why Mike has started playing music now at bedtime is beyond me. I swear that man does not think. I told him that we shouldn't do that because we don't want her to get used to the music and then have to drag a CD player everywhere we go overnight. He goes "oh yeah I never thought of that." DUH!!!!!!

Off to a work meeting. Yippee.

Is This Strange?

Because I think it is. This chick in my mom's group nurses her 3 1/2 year old son. She also nurses her younger son who will be 2 in February. She claims they are both boobie boys and that younger one wants the boob all the time. So much so that she carries him in a sling most of the day so the boobies are accessible, I guess. It doesn't gross me out, I just think it's so bizarre. But then again, this chick is STRANGE. I haven't even met her and she irritates me just by what she posts on our board.

Random thought here. People need to get over the damn Dog the Bounty Hunter using the N word. He said it in a private conversation for god's sake. There have been plenty of things I've said in private that I wouldn't want taped and released for the world to hear. Yes it's a bad word. But you can't tell me that a black person (or other race) hasn't ever called a white person a derogetory name. Besides I like his show and will be bummed if it's off the air.

OMG speaking of another show off the air...I'm hearing that Housewives will be affected by the writer's strike!!! AGH!!! That is the best show and it is so good right now! I will just cry if they start playing reruns.

I'M SO BORED AT WORK RIGHT NOW. I have done so much farting around on the internet this week I'm surprised our TS dept. hasn't come to my office and shut me down. I keep checking people.com, cnn.com, babycenter, my mom's group website, and a Wisconsin mom's website.

That teacher that ran away with her 13 year old student...now that is gross. Seriously, what was she thinking? She has an 8 year old daughter that she totally abondoned for a sexual relationship with a 13 year old?!?!? YUCK. Obviously she has some mental problems so hopefully she can get the help she needs. What would ever attract a 25 year old woman to a 13 year old boy?

OK enough random bitching. I'm sure I'll be back soon.

Wonderful Weekend

Our weekend was so relaxing! We stayed at the Wild Eagle Lodge in Eagle River, about 2 hours north of here. You can check it out at www.wildeaglelodge.com. Our "room" was $109 for a bedroom with a king bed, whirlpool, 2 bedrooms, full living room, dining room, fully stocked kitchen and balcony. It was like a little house. We just loved it and will definitely go back again.

Paige stayed at my mom and dad's and had a blast. She has been rather clingy the last few days so I know she really missed us.

OK the time change sucks. She has been getting up at 5:30am the past few mornings. I have no idea why because before the time change she was getting up around 7-7:30m. She was such a crab this morning.

Trick or treating was fun too. A little cold and windy, but we all had a ball and Paige looked adorable!

Work is very slow and boring right now and I'm in the office all week with hardly anything to break up the days. Ugh. I have non-work stuff I could do to keep busy, but I don't want to look unproductive.

I found a Christmas song on the radio yesterday. WTF people? Thanksgiving is still over 3 weeks away. Halloween was just last week. I think we can wait a little while yet. But speaking of that I better call Sears for an appointment for pictures.

Later chicas, have a good day!

NOT GUILTY!!!!

Ok so this is kinda old news, but wanted to share it with my ya yas anyway. My dad was found not guilty on Thursday October 18th on all 5 sexual assault charges!!!! The trial was the 15th-18th and went to the jury around 12:30pm on Thursday the 18th. They deliberated for 8 1/2 LONG hours and finally around 9pm read the verdict. It was so emotional I can't even describe it. I'm trying to find some video of it, but here are a few stories:
http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?s=7232846

Here's a few with video:
http://www.wfrv.com/content/news/breaking/story.aspx?content_id=2063821C-2032-4DFC-9F0E-1D2E6C3837B9&gsa=true

http://www.nbc26.com/news/local/10660636.html

I'm in the red sweatshirt and brown pants, Mike is in the blue shirt and my grandma is in the white sweater. You can also see my sister who is blonde in the blue shirt and her husband who is in a light yellow and my mom. I was wearing a nice blouse under that sweatshirt but started to shiver and get really cold from the stress so I put that fleece on.

It's really hard to put into words the emotions we all felt not only that day but the entire week. The trial was awful to sit through, I actually had to leave the courtroom a few times. Thank god Mike was there to help me get through it. The waiting for the verdict was the worst. Thank god again there was a church nearby where we spent most of the day. We prayed and broke down a few times. Someone had brought in a meat, cheese and veggie tray for us to eat while we waited. I tried to eat a little but I couldn't. Around 7pm I started to breakdown a little and by 8pm I was beside myself.

I guess the silver lining in this is that we really saw the goodness in people that week. We had at least 5-10 family friends at the trial most of the time and people brought over so much food it was crazy. We also had so many people praying for us.

We did have a scare on Wednesday of the trial; around 10am my dad passed out while the police chief from their town was testifying and basically recounting his interrogation of my dad. My dad hadn't been eating or drinking much that week, was still running, and it was hot in that courtroom. Plus it was packed with people and the media. After about 45 minutes he was ok, thank goodness. His skin was this awful gray-green color. Of course the media had a field day with that. Here's one story: http://www.wfrv.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=494FB213-8AF3-4BB4-A6AB-32BE8FAA651C&gsa=true

My mom also testified and you can see that on the same website.

So anyway our lives can get back to normal and Paige can be alone with her grandpa again! They are coming up tonight to go trick or treating with us and are watching her this weekend while Mike and I go on a little weekend getaway. We are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary a month late.

No baby news. We quit trying last month and will probably start back up again soon, but we are not going to get all caught up in it like we did.

OK back to work!

I'm Still Alive

Yes, I'm still here, just super busy (but aren't we all). Just need to watch my personal computer time at work because apparantely Big Brother is watching us. There were rumors that they are recording and monitoring our phone calls as well, but our computer people say that's not true. I think it is true, but what do I know?

Life is busy. Still plugging along on the weight loss thing. Kind of slacking in the exercise department the last week or so as I have had lots of mom's group stuff in the evenings. I'm not weighing myself, but my clothes are fitting better so that's a good thing.

Still not preggo which sucks the big one. Everyone in my mom's group is announcing that they are preggo or they are about to deliver. It's starting to piss me off. I actually cried last night at a moms group get together when one of them announced she is pregnant-and she's a friend of mine too. If I'm not this month, then Mike is getting tested, I don't care if he doesn't like it. I had bloodwork done in July which was normal, so the next step is to have him tested. He said let's try another month or 2, well it's 2 months, so step up big guy.

We had to surrender Duke at the end of July which was heartbreaking. 3 days later we adopted a wonderful lab/retriever mix named Dutchess. She is the best! She adores Paige and follows her wherever she goes. She has no manners and is a jumper, but we are working on that. She's about a year old and has the sweetest temperment, very mellow and laidback. We are keeping her in a crate during the day and meals, and she is going in there on her own now when she wants to be left alone.

I can't believe it's September already! I'm loving the cool weather. I thought it was supposed to be in the 70's today so I picked out a dress for Paige. Well she got up early and CRANKY and Mike had the oh so fun task of getting her dressed and off to the sitter's. He tried to convince her that it was too cool for a dress, but no dice. That girl would live in dresses if I let her. I'm sure she got cold, but she won't admit it.

We went to the Milwaukee zoo this past weekend which is about 3 hours away-it was awesome. I don't have the pix in photobucket yet, but I'll post them when I do. Here are a few recent ones:

I think I posted them on FFF but oh well. OK back to the grind.

2 pounds down, 48 to go

YAHOO, I lost 2 pounds last week! I exercised a total of 2 hours, dietician recommended 2.5 total per week, so I think 2 in my first week is pretty darn awesome. I ate 5 fruits and veggies 2 days last week, and 4 the other days.

This week so far, I walked for a half hour Sunday night while Mike gave Paige a bath, and then did a 35 minute aerobics video last night. Paige was sitting on Mike's lap playing computer games, but then as soon as she saw me getting ready to work out, she decided to do the video with me. It was so darn cute! She kept up with me the whole 35 minutes, even did the stretch at the end! We did a lot of grapevines at the beginning and when we weren't doing them she would say "I wanna do a grapevine mama." When it was done, she wanted to do it again, but I said we were done for the night! I think I'm taking tonight off. We have to get her flower girl dress repaired tonight for my cousin's wedding in a few weeks. She's the flower girl in that one too. We're going to the same lady we used for the alterations, I'm hoping she's a miracle worker because this dress is destroyed. In my saving money mission, I'm too cheap to buy a new one. I thought I could repair it myself, but no dice.

I may lose 10 pounds tomorrow at work. We are doing car seat appointments all day in 95 degree heat. YIPEE.

We had a very productive weekend. Again in my saving money mission, I decided we don't need to pay $30/month for a storage unit which holds our crap. So I asked my parents to come up and watch Paige Saturday AM and they did while Mike and I took the truck to our storage unit. I love that man dearly, but some days....well some days I don't like him so much. Saturday was one of those days. Earlier in the week, he gets the bright idea that we should re-list our house and therefore should keep the storage unit. Um, no. Not right now. So then we get out there and I start to make a goodwill pile, a keep pile and a going to the dump pile. I was brutal, if we didn't need it, it was going to goodwill. We kept the baby stuff and Christmas stuff. As I'm putting stuff in the goodwill pile, Mike suggests that we have a yard sale. WTF MAN?!?!?! No, I said, we have babysitters for Paige and I don't want to rent tables, price stuff, organize it, advertise a rummage sale and then sit outside while people paw through our stuff. When we are done having babies, I will have a done having babies rummage sale, but I'm not having one to sell our useless crap. Then he got slightly huffy, whatever. Then he sees his prized car stereo system that is easily 15 years old and says he's going to put that in the truck. It's one of those that takes up the whole back seat so no one can sit there. Apparently, the car seat in the truck suddenly became invisible and he forgot the fact that we do occasionally take Paige (and Duke) in the truck. UGH!!!!! Then he says he's going to sell it. So I told him he has a month to get rid of it and if it's not gone, I'm taking it to Goodwill. I'm still not sure where it ended up. It's probably hidden in our garage somewhere. So we took a truckload to the dump, a truckload to Goodwill and a truckload back to our house. We cleaned out and swept the garage, and then loaded this stuff into the corner of it. This is where having a 3 car garage really pays off. We can fit the truck, my Taurus, our boat and tons of bins in there. I'm rather disgusted that we spent $30/month for the past 2 years to store stuff we actually threw away.

Saturday night we went to a baseball game with Paige and my mom's group. There's a team in Green Bay of college boys home for the summer. Can we say yummy eye candy? We may go this Friday night with a mom and her husband from my mom's group that I've gotten to be friends with. He's a doctor, so she stays home and money is no object. But she's really nice and so is he. I'm not 100% sure I should go because our American Cancer Society Relay for Life is Friday night and I "should" work at it to get people signed up for anti-tobacco stuff. We'll see. The game would be more fun so I'm going to ask our seamstress tonight if her daughter can babysit on Friday night.

This Saturday we are getting Paige's 3 year old pictures taken at Sears. I hope they turn out. We're getting them taken a few months late...ooops.

Work is slow and boring and my boss is gone this week. This day is dragging on. I got here at 9am and haven't really done anything. At least I get to leave at 2:30pm for my therapist appointment.

OK, off to look busy.

My ya yas

really are the best. Thank you all for your words of encouragement and understanding on my last blog. They made me cry and appreciate how awesome you all are!!! YA YAS RULE!!!

So I had my dietician appointment yesterday. It went fairly well. The information she gave me wasn't really earth shattering, but it was good to hear. I am going to focus on portion sizes (measuring out food before I eat it), eating more fruits and veggies (at least 5/day) and getting 2.5 hours of exercise a week. I need to eventually get down to 1400-1600 calories a day, and she thinks I've been eating about 2200 calories/day based on my food journal. Holy crap. And I was trying to be good about what I ate because I knew I'd have to journal it and show it to her. How many calories was I eating before the food journal. I don't really want to think about it I guess. But for right now I'm just going to focus on fruits and veggies because eating those means I'll be eating less of the other not so healthy foods, which means less calories. I'm not counting calories right now. I'm going to read food labels so I'm aware of what I'm putting in my mouth, but I'm not going to obsess about it.

So being the anal detailed list kind of person I am, I whipped up a calendar for myself to help keep me on track. On the top of each day, I'm going to write in what I'm going to cook for supper. It's not necessarily going to be a super healthy one, but just a meal so I'm not scrambling around the kitchen at 5:30pm trying to defrost meat and figure out what I can cook based on the ingredients I have. Oh and keep Paige entertained. Then I have a space to write in the amount of exercise I get per day and a numbered column (1-5) for fruits and veggies. Every time I eat a serving of fruits or veggies, I check it off. I have it posted on my fridge so I see it every time I go in the kitchen. I also asked Mike to pick up more fruit at the grocery store last night and I cooked green beans from our garden with supper.

I'm meeting with the dietician in 7 weeks so I'm hoping to lose 11 pounds by then. I think I'll be able to do it. No, I WILL DO IT!!!

Therapist is this afternoon. I'll probably bawl the whole time. Should be interesting.

Off to go drink my smoothie...2 servings of fruit in there...YAHOO!!!!

Could They Make it Any more Difficult?

My god, I've spent the last hour on the phone with my insurance company, therapists, dr. office, and a hospital. All I want is to see a therapist and nutritionist to help me lose weight but my god these people all make it so difficult. First call was to insurance to check on benefits, coverage and providers for this stuff. Dieticians are covered as long as they are through a hospital or clinic that is takes our insurance. Easy enough, I'll just go through one of the hospitals in Green Bay. The guy I talked to wasn't 100% sure, but thought I'd just have to pay $30 office visit co pay. Therapy is covered as long as it is one of their therapists, again at $30 co/pay. There is one clinic in town that they cover with several therapists, so I call to make an apt. and the secretary isn't in on Wednesdays or Fridays. WTF?!?!? So I go on the internet to find a dietician at a hospital in Green Bay. One of the hospitals is Bellin and I know they take my insurance, but I call the insurance company back just to double check and this time I talk to someone who tells me that if they provide the dietetic services as an outpaitent service at the hospital, I have to pay for everything up to my deductible ($1500) then 20% for everything after that. WTF?!?!?! If it's at a clinic, then I only pay the OV $30 co/pay. UUGGGHHHH. But she says even if they (the hospital) charges $100, insurance might only allow $50 and I'd only have to pay $50. But she couldn't tell me what they allow because they are in Minnesota and I'm in Wisconsin. Again WTF!?!?!?!? So I call Patient Scheduling at Bellin and hold it together and don't break down crying while asking to see a dietician for weight loss. I mean do you have any idea how embarrassing this has all been? And the chick tells me I need a dr. referral to see a dietician for weight loss. Well Jesus F'ing Christ, now I really lose it. Just what I need. To pay $30 to see my dr. so she can tell me yes indeed you really are fat and I will refer you to a dietician, who we still don't know how much will cost you. So I hang up and break down crying. After I compose myself 10 minutes later, I call the ob/gyn's office that I just saw last week and ask them to make a referral to Bellin for weight loss. Again humiliating. But the chick I talked to was very sweet and helpful and said the dr. will do that for me. So now I wait to hear back from the therapist and Bellin to see if they will see me. I just tried calling my mom to vent, but no one is home. I put the do not disturb sign on my door and forwarded my calls to voicemail. I'm tempted to go home sick this afternoon. We'll see.

OK, the therapist office just left me a message on my cell phone. They do accept my insurance, so one step in the right direction.

In case you are wondering why I'm going through this trouble, I must tell you that my eating issues are emotional. Jenny Craig, WW, etc. just won't cut it for me. I eat for emotional reasons that I just don't want to get into. I have realized that I have a very addictive personality.

But I can't go on like this. I'm embarrassed to be out in public sometimes because of how heavy I am. I can't even hardly look at the pix from my sister's wedding because of how big I am. The photographer posed me behind Kristin for the picture of just me and her and put me in the back in the group pictures and I know why. I look like a whale standing next to her. The family picture of us is especially disgusting, my mom dad and sister are twigs and here I am the giant yellow whale.

My bloodwork came back from the ob/gyn office and everything is normal so I guess that's good. Even my lipid panel and glucose are normal and healthy which is good considering my weight and how fast I've gained. The next step we discussed was having mike's swimmers tested. I guess we'll talk about that tonight. She is also going to look at my operative report from March 2005 when my ovarian cyst was removed. Hopefully nothing serious happened from that.

AF is due anyday now so I'm just waiting to find out if I'm pregnant or not. I'm so emotional so I probably have PMS and the old bitch is on her way.

A Plan

So I met with the new ob/gyn in town yesterday and really liked her. We talked about my inability to get knocked up and she doesn't really consider me infertile yet because we've been trying for 9 months. If it's been a year, then we start talking infertility. But I decided I want to be a bit more aggressive and am having blood drawn tomorrow for testing. If my tests come back normal, Mike has to have his swimmers tested. That would be interesting. If those are normal, then I have that test where they shoot dye into your tubes. I've heard that's painful, so I'm hoping all is normal.

Well actually in a weird way I'm hoping they find something wrong with my bloodwork-well something that can be fixed with medication. What if everything is normal, but we just can't get pregnant for some reason? This month I didn't do any opks or anything, we just tried and tried and tried and tried this past weekend. It was very enjoyable!

I stayed home with Paige last week and just loved it. Her sitter was closed for the week. It is so hard being here. I actually told Mike last night that I want to be a SAHM. I would love to be home with her-I can't even believe I'm thinking that. But do I really want to throw away my career? I do like my job and am proud of the fact that I'm good at it. Money would be extremely tight, we're not even sure that it's possible. All I know is that I loved last week and that it's been a horrible adjustment being back at work this week. We tossed around having me go down to 3 days a week. I'm waiting for my boss to be in the right mood for me to approach her. We shall see.

OK off to eat lunch and then car seat apts. this afternoon.

Excavation Awareness

OK, most days I love my job, but the county in their infinate wisdom decided last fall that all employees will be required to take a monthly online safety course. I guess this is our "wellness program." Lovely. So most of them have been relevant to my work, but last month was Work Zone Safety (basically it only applied to the Highway Dept. employees) and the one I just took was Excavation Awarenss, about different types of soils and trenches. WTF? And there's a quiz after each one that you must get at least an 80% on to pass. Thank god I've passed all of mine so far. If I would have had to sit through this excavation one again....yikes.

OK so my mom's group is starting to chap my ass again. When I first joined we had about 50 members. When it hit 80 members a few months ago there was talk of closing the group off to new members, but the organizers said no. Now we are up to 94 members and we get at least 1 or 2 new members every week. The meetups are filling up so fast that unless you are sitting on the computer waiting for a new one to show up and RSVP for it, you'll never get in. Most of them fill up before I can even check my yahoo email at night. Ridiculous. I emailed 2 girls I've gotten to be friends with bitching about it last week, and one of them invited me and the other to her house last week for supper. It was really fun, except Paige was rather clingy. We were there for about 2 hours and Paige didn't warm up to the other 2 girls her age until about 10 minutes before we left. The other 2 moms feel the same way, so we'll probably just keep getting together on our own. I'd rather do that anyway than a big meetup with like 25 moms and kids there. Paige doesn't do so well at those either.

Now there's a thread on the board about not immunizing your kids, and if you know anything about me, you know that will get my blood boiling. Immunizations work people! Have you heard of anyone getting polio in the last 20 years? No? Well there's a reason!!!!! And I personally think it's great that new vaccines are coming out. I wish the rotavirus vaccine would have been out when Paige was a baby so we wouldn't have had to go through that week of hell of her having the rotavirus. That is a nasty disease, not to mention dangerous with the risk of dehydration. I must share with you this post which drives me nuts:

"I have chosen not to immunize my children. At this point I am fairly comfortable with that. There some immunizations we probably should consider, particularly tetanus. The chicken pox vaccine is not one I want my kids to have. I think it is far better for them to be exposed naturally. But these days, that will be hard to come by.

Ironically, it seems that there is currently a strain of pertussis (whooping cough) going around in the area. Yes, I mean Green Bay. My child has been unwell with a cough that has grown progressively worse for three weeks. Only today did the pediatrician say that perhaps she may have whooping cough. Of course there is no treatment for it. While it is dangerous for an infant to have this condition, it is not deadly to older person. I do have to say that if my daughter does have whooping cough, it is a scary illness to witness, because the coughs are lengthy and often provoke vomiting and the appearance of not being able to breathe.

Despite the possibility that she may have an illness that we could have immunized against, I am not sorry we did not. It is important to remember that immunizations 'wear out' so we as adults are not necessarily immunized.

There are concerns that each parent has to consider when deciding to immunize, or not. For us, a family history of a particular condition helped me decide against it."

So even after your kid has a vaccine-preventable illness, that still doesn't change your mind?!?!?! UGH!!!!!

OK off my soapbox.

Our weekend was fun. Had a mom's group playdate on Saturday morning which was fun. There were 5 moms and 9 kids so it was just the right size. Came home for lunch and nap, then back to Green Bay to visit Paige's best friend Grace. They had a blast together and we got home way too late! After Paige's bath, she didn't get to bed until 10pm.

Sunday morning went to church and grocery shopping. Paige was so excited ("I'm so exciting!" her favorite phrase) to do Kid's Gospel at our church. They take kids 4-4th grade back into a classroom in the school during a part of church and they have their own reading, songs, and craft. They are usually gone for about 20 minutes which is kind of nice. I've always gone back with Paige since she's only 3, but she wanted to go by herself yesterday. At the end of church, the priest calls the kids up to the front so he can look at their pictures and oh and ah over them....he's a sucker for the little ones. Then the kids walk out with the priest. Well Paige missed the bottom step down and fell right in the front of church in front of everyone. She was so upset and we were way in the back so it took me a couple of seconds to get to her. It was so heartbreaking to see my baby's face all scrunched up and crying...she was still walking up the aisle, but she was so sad. Poor girl. She was rather whiny during grocery shopping so I think she was pretty sad about it. But after a good lunch and nice long nap she was much better in the afternoon. We played outside and then had brats on the grill for supper. MMM...love summertime food like that.

And now I've been at work for an hour and all I've done is that stupid online course. I should probably go be productive. Later ya yas!

Tired

What a long day; left the house at 7am, didn't get home until 10pm. I met with 2 of my legislators in their offices (well, their staff people). Had an appointment with a third, but his office was dark and locked up. Rude. The public hearing started at 1pm and I didn't get to speak until about 5:30pm. It was a long afternoon. But it was awesome because us smoke free people outnumbered the opposition by at least 4 to 1. They were getting so frustrated, it was great!

Busy couple of days ahead of me. My sister's bridal shower and bach party on Saturday, then we are meeting some friends at the zoo on Sunday. Next week is just crazy at work. Monday night a seamstress is coming to my house to do the bridesmaids dress alterations. I did my first tanning session yesterday, was hoping to do another one tonight, but didn't get back to town in time. Will have to go tomorrow since I have a month unlimited, have to take advantage of it. I have to call my hairdresser to reschedule today's appointment (for the 2nd time, had to reschedule one from last week!). AGH! Also have to get a girdle/shaper thing for the wedding since the seamstress wants me to wear it on Monday when she does the alterations. The fun never ends. Oh and I have to make a dip for the shower on Saturday.

Had dinner last night with a couple of friends with my moms group. These two girls are super cool and I'm so glad we met and became friends. We're supposed to have a playdate tomorrow but I think I may cancel on it since life is so crazy right now, I need a day at home to veg. Well veg as much as I can chasing after an active 3 year old.

Off to bed!

I Got It

The Regent that is. Well I ordered it anyway. I can't believe I'm buying this huge ass car seat, but I have to. Paige is the size of an average 5 year old and has outgrown the Evenflo in Mike's car. She's close to outgrowing the Marathon in my car. So we're putting the Marathon in Mike's and the Regent in mine. After she outgrows the Marathon, I'm not really sure what we are doing. Evenflo is coming out with a convertible that is supposed to harness to 50 pounds and 50 inches in July; that's supposed to run about $100. Hopefully it will get good reviews because that might be my only option.

The weekend went well. Lots of driving, but Paige had a great time and was very well behaved overall. The packing and unpacking was a pain in the ass, but not as bad as I thought. I wish we wouldn't have had to drive 2.5 hours one way over to Mike's grandpa's house on Sunday for his brother's going away party (going into the Air Force) but we left Paige with my family and made the most of our time together. Wink Wink. Twice actually.

We got back in time to go to the Memorial Day Parade in town where Paige got a ton of candy! She had a blast picking it up and putting it in her wagon. She liked most of it except when the semis went by and honked their horns.

Now I'm back at work trying to catch up from being gone so much last week and my boss keeps dumping crap on me. I'm taking off Thursday to go testify at a hearing at our state capitol in favor of 100% smoke free workplaces throughout the state, including bars and restaurants. The Tavern League will be out in full force so it will get nasty, but I'm excited about it. It's so ridiculous that we have to pick and choose where we will eat because some places allow smoking. Sorry, your food may be good but I'm not exposing my child to that crap that comes out of your cigarette.

Stressed

Never again will I be a matron of honor. This is so stressful. And the kicker is that I know I'm making it more stressful than it needs to be. I feel like I have to be the activity director for the night, and I've never gone out in the town we are going to. So I have no clue which bars are fun, or even where they are. I just have this bad feeling people are going to be looking to me to direct them where to go. Why am I feeling like that? Adding to my stress is the fact that not only do people not respond in the first place, but they DON'T RETURN PHONE MESSAGES!!!! WTF people?!?! How hard is it to just take a minute out of your day and say yes I'm coming or no I'm not coming. You have my cell and home numbers. I have voicemail on both. Grrrrr.....

My period started today so we are going to be trying for our 8th month. I think that's all I'm going to say about that or I will start crying.

We are going up north this weekend to my sister's and her fiance's cabin and I guess it's still quite primitive. They have no stove, so we are bringing our little grill. We're basically camping in a cabin. We have to bring our own sheets, towels, blankets and all of our food. Also lawn chairs. This should be interesting. I'm so stressed about packing all of this stuff. Part of me just wants to stay home but then I know we'd get bored hanging around the house all weekend. I just hate packing and unpacking. Plus I'm such a homebody, sometimes going away for the weekend stresses me out. I have a bad feeling about Paige too. I'm sure she won't get enough sleep and be a real bear.

I don't know what to do about Paige. She is so defiant and just plain doesn't listen. What am I doing wrong? She makes everything difficult. I have to go pick her up soon from the sitter's and as awful as this sounds, I just plain don't want to. I wish I could sit here alone in peace and quiet until I go out for coffee with my mom's group tonight.

OK, off to enjoy about 10 minutes of peace and quiet.

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

5 AM

OK let's play a little game of Jeopardy. 5 AM is the answer, guess the correct question.
1. The time our coffeemaker kicked in this morning
2. A time I consider middle of the night
3. The time Paige woke up this morning

If you guessed option 3, you are correct! #2 would also be correct if the truth be told. Let's keep this little quiz game going. Paige's mood this morning was:
1. Full of sunshine and light, AKA my little ray of sunshine
2. Mellow and content to sit in front of the TV
3. Bucky and ornary as all hell demanding that dear old dad make pancakes

Again, option #3 would be correct.

After dear old dad said no to pancakes, what happened next?
1. Paige made them herself
2. She threw a holy fit and refused to fall back asleep until 6 am when Mike got up and released her from her jail cell aka her bedroom
3. She watched cartoons

That would be option #2. You would have thought we were pulling her toenails out one by one the way she was carrying on.

Last question. After Mike took Paige to the sitter's I woke up at:
1. 7am
2. 8am
3. 8:45 am

That would be #3. 8:45am. I am such a slacker! I love to sleep!!!!

OK, if anyone ever asks me again to be a matron of honor, I will run kicking and screaming like a bat out of hell. This bridal shower/bach party has turned into a nightmare. People just don't respond, it's so rude. So now I have to call 11 people, most of whom I don't know to ask if they are coming and are spending the night at the hotel I booked. Also how many people do you want to share the room with, 2 or 4? Last night was just awful. I had to look up 11 phone numbers online and over half are unlisted, so my sister is getting those numbers for me. Then be a weird coincidence, one of the girls invited calls me while I'm trying to check my cupboards and recipe books to plan my suppers for the week as Mike is on his way to Walmart and wants to know if I want to add anything to the grocery list. This chick (we'll just call her V) is firing questions at me left and right while Paige is sitting on the counter top eating raw egg noodles (or noo-noos as she calls them). How many people are coming? How many did you invite? When is the shower? Oh I wasn't invited to that (thanks Kristin for putting me in this awkward position BTW). When is check in time? How much is the room? Where are we eating? And the kicker, are we going to any strip clubs? WTF? Um no. I couldn't tell if she was serious or not, but after telling my sister that, I guess she was. I guess she likes to check out naked men. Whatever. Diferent strokes for different folks. So now I have to check with all the bridesmaids to make sure they are spending the night in the hotel and who do they want to share a room with? I have to call a tanning place so I don't look like an albino in the dress. I have to call a seamstress. I have to get a shaper thing to suck in my belly fat. AGH!!!! Calgon take me away!!!!!

Shout outs to my peeps:
Meredith: that website is disgusting. Thank god that perv is far away from us.
Koren: I have a swim dress. WTH, we're moms. Who do we have to impress?
Elisa: Allergies suck. You sound just miserable, I feel so bad for you.
Terri: Happy birthday Ellie!!!! How is she doing?
Linda: Happy birthday Rebecca!!! She is so darn cute!

OK, guess I should get some work done. I've been here for an hour and have accomplished nothing.

The Nanny Diaries

This is the book I'm currently reading. Well one of them. I got the Nanny Diaries at a rummage sale on Saturday and started reading it right away, even though I'm in the middle of another one called Night's Landing. The Nanny Diaries is hilarious! If you get a chance to read it, you really should. There are a couple of things that irritate me though: the nanny's name is Nanny, and the couple she nannies for has the last name of X. That's it. Just X. It's weird. Other than that it's really good. She nannies for a super rich couple in NYC and the authors really seem to be picking on rich, upscale families whose parents don't spend any time with the kids and name them hoity toity names like Grayer.

Ugh, I'm waiting for someone to quit using the copier so I can use it. I can hear it from my office and it's just cooking away. I need to go make some copies before I can talk to a coworker in the Extension office. Oh, it's quiet, maybe the Copy Hog is done.

Holy crap Desperate Housewives was so good last night. I can't believe I have to wait until September to find out of Edie is really dead, if Carlos and Gabby are going to get back together and if Bree can pull off the pregnancy/raising her grandchild thing.

Paige is now 39 pounds and 41 inches. I can't even believe it. She's the size of an average 4.5 to 5 year old.

I had a blast rummage saleling this weekend, especially on Saturday when I got to go alone. I took her on Friday and she was not so good. She kept taking stickers off of stuff and moving the toys all over. It's like control yourself child! I got her a ton of clothes for this summer and a bunch for this winter already too.

Friday was not such a good day. Krista and Linda heard all about it in chat on Friday...thanks for letting me vent girls! Paige was not good during the rummage sales. Then we went to the park for a playdate with my mom's group and she wouldn't let go of the death grip around my leg for almost an hour. Finally I gave up and hauled her out to the car with her screaming bloody murder. It was so embarrassing. Here I have like one of the only kids in daycare almost full time, and she can't leave my side to go play on the playground equipment? I just wanted to leave but I didn't because it was in Green Bay (a 40 minute drive) and I didn't want to waste the time and gas money to stay for 5 minutes. All of the other kids were playing and having a great time, but not mine. I could see if she was maybe 1 or so, but not at 3. It was awful. And her dr. apt. was at 3:30pm, I scheduled it for then because she had been waking up from her nap at 2:30 pm for months now like clockwork. She takes a while to wake up so I thought 3:30pm would be a good time. Well wouldn't you know, she parties in her room for almost an hour after I laid her down, and I ended up having to wake her from an almost comatose-like state at 3:20pm. I carried her out to the car and was about 5 minutes late for the apt.

We were gardening fools yesterday. Mike and Paige planted the garden and I planted about a million flowers. They all look really nice.

OK, my copies are done so I must get back to work. Good times!

Survivor

I know some of you may have already seen this, but it is just hilarious:
The Next Survivor Series - Mothers Day Series!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES:

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of "pretend" bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment. He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care (weekend, evening, on a holiday or right when they're about to leave for vacation).

He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.

Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done. There is only one TV between them, and a remote with dead batteries.

Each father will be required to know all of the words to every stupid song that comes on TV and the name of each and every character on cartoons.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, which they will apply to themselves either while driving or making three lunches.

Each man will have to make an Indian hut model with six toothpicks, a tortilla and one marker; and get a 4 year old to eat a serving of peas.

Each man must adorn himself wit h jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep their nails polished and eyebrows groomed.

The men must try to get through each day without snot, spit-up or barf on their clothing.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings, but never once complain or slow down from other duties. They must try to explain what a tampon is for when the 6-yr old boy finds it in the purse.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

He will need to read a book and then pray with the children each night without falling asleep, and then feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair each morning by 7:00.

They must leave the home with no food on their face or clothes.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name.

Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

They must clean up after their sick children at 2:00 a.m. and then spend the remainder of the day tending to that child and waiting on them hand and foot until they are better.

They must have a loving, age appropriate reply to, "You're not the boss of me."

The kids vote them off the island based on performance.

The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years...eventually earning the right to be called Mother!

Is It OK...

to admit that I just really don't like my own child right now? I know a big part of it is that she's not sleeping well and is so tired. She's like her mama, when she doesn't get enough sleep she is a complete basket case. And the crankier she is, the more I avoid her. The more I avoid her, the more she wants to be by me and acts out to get my attention. The more she acts out, the more I avoid her. It's a vicious cycle. It's so frustrating, it's like if you are so damn tired, then SLEEP for crying out loud! There is no law stating you have to wake up at 6:30am every day or only nap for an hour or so. Sleep if you're tired!!!!!

Well I'll probably get the bad mom award for admitting that I actually enjoy a night or two away from my child on the BBC boards, but what are you going to do? I know what works for me and my family. Paige and I are not attached at the hip nor do I think that's healthy.

Oh I forgot to mention the Mother's Day presents that she made at Sandi's house last week. That Sandi must have the patience of a saint. Who else is willing to make 4 different Mother's Day crafts with a group of 2-4 year olds, mostly girls? UGH. Anyway I got a cute beaded keychain with a charm on the end that says "#1 Mom", a card with her handprint that she decorated with stickers, a windchime with a wooden flower that she colored and 4 chimes hanging off of it, and a flower made out of cupcake liners, her cut out handprints and a pipe cleaner for the stem. Her picture is in the middle of the cupcake liner. Too cute. I need to get a hope chest to start keeping all of these things. They are too nice to throw away.

Terri-I've been thinking about you so much these past few weeks. How's Ellie doing today? You guys are in my prayers.

Way Behind

It's May already...holy crap. I'm so behind on this blog. Between crazy work, Paige's party, my sister's bridal shower and her wedding, life is just nuts. At least Paige's party is over, so 1 down, 2 to go.

Thank you Meredith for the Happy Birthday to Paige on your blog. I tried to sign in and leave a comment, but blogger was acting funky. Happy belated birthday to Ella!!! And can I just say, you must have the biggest heart of anyone I know. Here you are already busy raising 4 kids of your own and you are willing to open your home to 2 more kids in need. I couldn't do it. Do you need more boys clothes? I can certainly hit some rummage sales for you!

Mike has had tendinitis in his wrist the past month. He's been doing PT 3 times/week and tomorrow is his last one. He's feeling much better thank goodness. He has been quite the crab since it happened. Can't say I blame him.

He was able to put new floor in our living room before the tendinitis developed and it looks so nice in there. We got new lamps too and the living room looks so much nicer. We just need to find an area rug.

Those were taken before the new lamps were up. I should take another one. The new lamps make a world of difference.

We had new neighbors move into the lower part of the duplex next door to us. They are a young boyfriend and girlfriend, mid to late twenties and probably some of the nicest people I've met. The girl has a 3 year old daughter from a previous marriage and her and Paige are best buddies already. It was in the 80's yesterday so I filled up Paige's pool when I got home from work, and Ava (the 3 year old) came over and they splashed around in the pool for at least an hour. Totally wore Paige out so she was crabby the rest of the night. The only thing is is that she has a huge meltdown whenever we have to go inside after playing with Ava...she wants to keep playing!!!!

I had a nice Mother's Day. Mike got me 4 hanging flower pots for outside and they are so pretty. He sort of gave me the day off too...took care of Paige as much as he could so I could sit around and read and be lazy. It was pretty nice. She has a cold and hasn't been sleeping well so she is so cranky and tired. I think we are entering the terrible 3's. She has been downright defiant and just sassy lately. Good times.

She got a 2 wheeler bike with training wheels for her birthday and has been just loving that. We're going to try to go for a bike ride/walk every night. She does pretty good on it!!!

If you get a chance, watch this video today. You might pee your pants!!

Venting

OK OK I know it's been ages since I've blogged...life has been CRAZY! Between updating our house and work...yikes.

Random vent here: The car seat board on BBC drives me absolutely flippin' nuts. The majority of the posters are not techs and must sit their fat asses on the computer all day waiting for a question so they can chime in ASAP, act high and mighty and impress the unknowing OPs with their "vast" knowledge. They all have kids so I wonder what their kids are doing all day while these chicks sit around on the computer ready to pounce on a question. And not only can one person answer the question, a whole group of them have to chime in and repeat themselves so as to show off. ITS SO ANNOYING!!!!!! Especially this chick on my birth board. She kinda popped up out of nowhere on our birth board but is on the car seat one all the time. When someone asked a car seat question, I answered, then she answered and advised the person to ask for more info at the car seat board. WTF? Being a certified tech for 4 years isn't good enough? UGH!!!!!!

OK, I feel better now.

Mike thinks he has tendinitis. His right wrist is just killing him and he basically can't use that hand. He's probably going to the dr. tomorrow and his work will put him on light duty which means working crazy hours. Over nights, etc. Great.

I'm finally getting over this damn cold. I've had it for probably 2 weeks and it's a whopper. Sore throat, runny nose, aches, headache etc. I slept until 8:45am Monday morning. It felt wonderful.

Paige's party is in a month. I can't even believe my baby will be 3. She has been acting so grown up lately.

Got a positive OPK on Sunday and Monday nights so Mike and I did the deed then. Hopefully it works. I'm a late ovulater I guess. We've been BDing at the wrong time all these months. I'd be due in January which isn't ideal, but I'll take a healthy baby no matter when it comes.

My sister's bridal shower is June 2nd and I'm stressing about that. I'm waiting for one of the bridesmaids to finish making the bachelorette party invite and then I'm getting them printed and sending them out. I'm tempted to ask if another bridesmaid can get them printed and sent out. I really do not have the time to stuff and address 20 or so invitations.

My house is a mess. I don't know how in the hell we are going to get it cleaned up by Paige's party on May 12th. Just the basement alone will take one weekend.

OK off to relax a bit and then to bed.

Oh one more random vent...wtf is up with Sanjaya on AI? I just have a bad feeling he's going to win. He's such a pussbag.

Can you tell I forgot to take my Lexapro today?

OK, now I'm off to relax!!!
