Just Be Fit? Just Curl Up and Die

OK, my title is also my current FB status, I'm just not that original.

So I let my friend Carrie talk me into an exercise class that her sister teaches called Just Be Fit. It should have been called Boot Camp for the Super Fit. Holy crap. We started with 30 seconds of wide squats with a shoulder press, then moved onto squat jumps, then down to the floor for delt flies on each side. Back up and repeat til you pass out. The rest is slightly hazy, but I remember push-ups, planks, jumping jacks, high knees, lunges, bicycle crunches, this god awful around the world squat thing were you squat then kick front with each foot, then side, then back and repeat. TEN TIMES. Needless to say I did a lot of modifications on pretty much every move. Some of which included standing there seeing stars. And my evil friend(?) told me to bring 5 lb weights. Um, no. Next week 3 pounders.

I'm hoping I'll be able to walk tomorrow. If not, the kid is in school, Mike is at work and I have a comfy chair, TV remote and laptop available. I'll only get up to eat.

Recap

Copying this from another blog so don't go thinking I'm all clever or something. Since I hadn't posted since April 2010, let me fill you in on our super exciting life:

May-the kid turns 6 with a birthday bash at a bounce house type of place. I learned that all kids don't have the endurance of my Energizer Bunny when after a half hour of bouncing they complained that they were tired and hungry. We go on our first camping trip and all survive, and more importantly have fun.

June-I turn 34. Brooks and Dunn cancelled their concert at Summerfest which was a huge bummer for Mike and I. It was their final concert tour so it was our last chance to see them. Since we had plans for the kid to be taken care of, we buy Brewer tickets instead. My boss and I go to a conference out of town and share a hotel room for a few nights. We texted each other and had a few beers on the balcony of our room. It was odd.

July-Camping, camping and more camping. No one has killed each other yet. Success!

August-More camping. The kid is getting ready to start 1st grade and nerves set in. Bedtimes become a struggle with much whining involved.

September-We trade in our Edge with a very heavy heart. It wasn't getting the mileage we wanted and the payments were a little too high. We buy a Mountaineer which pulls the camper better, has a lower payment and gets about the same mileage the Edge was. I don't like it and complain on a daily basis. My sister and her hubby have a baby girl who a cranky pants.

October-Mike and I celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary by doing a big fat nothing.

November-Mike leaves 2 long weekends in a row for deer hunting. Much bitching on my part ensues. We start to dislike each other for a while. K and I and our kids visit my grandma for Thanksgiving where the crank pot managed to spend more time screaming than not.

December-Best Christmas ever. Mike is no longer a delivery driver working 60 hour weeks in shitty weather and it shows. He's relaxed and happy and we really enjoy Christmas this year.

January-The kid is really reading. It's pretty cool. It's cold and snowy.

There you have it. Pretty fascinating stuff huh?

My Niece Hates Me

Update since last April: my sister had a baby girl at the end of September and they named her Ashley. They should have named her Crabby or Cries-a-Lot or Never Content. I spent a ton of time with them the first few months after she was born and I must have pissed her off or something because she, well, I think she hates me. K brought the kids over last night. Dylan was his usual 2 year old absolutely hilarious boy who found great pleasure in running up to the cat and yelling KITTY!!!! Max was not a fan and hid under my bed. Dylan responded by pulling on my hand leading me to my room and saying "Auntie Hara (his version of Sara) get kitty under bed."

Ashley meanwhile screamed. And screamed some more. Then when you thought those little lungs would quit, she screamed some more. Finally K got her to calm down. I would gently walk up to her and smile and coo at her and she would honestly frown, her face would pucker up and she'd start to wimper. WTF kid?!?!? I'm seriously bummed about this.

At least Dylan still loves me. On the way home, he told K "I want to go back to that house." So I guess 1 out of 2 ain't bad huh?
